Expert Training

SSY Trainee Scheme

SSY boasts a proud legacy which goes back over 140 years. In that time, some of the biggest names in ship broking have worked for the firm. Indeed, it’s fair to say that SSY has helped shape the ship broking industry that we know today.

Through our London Trainee Scheme, successful applicants get the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced names in shipping over a 12-month period. In addition to expert divisional training, we will also ensure the trainees are educated in the principals of shipping, as well as take part in networking opportunities and a series of port visits and vessel trips.

What you'll do…

• Lead and contribute to Azure-based projects, ensuring smooth integration, deployment and documentation of cloud services
• Continuously enhance system performance and security by leveraging your strong problem-solving skills and IT expertise
• Stay up to date with the latest Azure developments and best practices, applying them to improve our systems and processes
• Provide general user support deskside - troubleshooting issues, answering IT questions, handling password resets
• Provide remote desktop support as needed
• Oversee the onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires, including setting up employee hardware and access credentials
• Support and administer Intune Device Management
• Maintain IT equipment in conference rooms and shared office spaces
• Manage IT asset inventory and procurement processes
• Collaborate with various teams across our offices in Europe, Singapore and USA to ensure the effective implementation of IT services and support, fostering a cohesive working environment
• Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance requirements
• Develop and optimise IT processes to support company growth and scale
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of IT operations and user satisfaction
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested


Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in IT operations or support roles, preferably in a fast-growing, fast-paced company
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems
• Must have 2 years’ experience with Azure AD, Microsoft Intune, and Office 365 administration, Azure virtual desktop, Azure SQL, Sharepoint.
• Strong knowledge with identity and access management systems (e.g.Microsoft Entra)
• Experience in establishing and applying security practices and compliance requirements
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
• Passion for learning and adapting to new technologies
• Team-first mindset with a customer-centric approach to IT support

Job description:
We are looking for an LNG Shipping Operator to join our LNG team. The Operator has been necessitated as a result of SSY’s LNG market presence and to improve our service offering to our customers in the post fixture process. The incumbent Operator will be working closely with the broking team, and lead the post fixture process in our deals with Shipowners, LNG producers, national and major oil companies, oil, gas and energy traders and financial institutions. Whilst the role will be based in Singapore, it will be with a worldwide remit to reflect the international coverage of our business.

This is a very exciting time to join our LNG desk, which is expanding rapidly in the face of a growing sector.

Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

• Closely monitoring each transaction, and ensuring timely reminders to our customers on their commercial and operational obligations under the charters (E.g. notices, option declaration, heel declaration, redelivery declaration)
• Coordinating with Shipowners and Charterers on day-to-day basis to ensure their operational needs and demands are met
• Spearhead the fixture reconciliation process with our customers, and coordinating with the finance team for brokerage billing
• Working closely with the broking teams to support specific needs

Skills required:

• Strong attention to detail, organised with reliable time management skills and a methodical approach
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills required to work with a global team
• Ability to work within a deadline-driven environment with a strong work ethic and self-motivation
• Able to prioritise work according to deadlines
• Previous shipping experience and/or gas and LNG markets will be helpful, but not essential. On the job training will be provided.
