SSY Trainee Scheme

SSY boasts a proud legacy which goes back over 140 years. In that time, some of the biggest names in ship broking have worked for the firm. Indeed, it’s fair to say that SSY has helped shape the ship broking industry that we know today.

Through our London Trainee Scheme, successful applicants get the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced names in shipping over a 12-month period. In addition to expert divisional training, we will also ensure the trainees are educated in the principals of shipping, as well as take part in networking opportunities and a series of port visits and vessel trips.

Job description:

We are looking for an experienced Second Line Support Specialist to join our SSY London office. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our technical support operations, ensuring our users receive unparalleled support.

Responsibilities:

• Daily IT Support: Provide exceptional day-to-day IT support to our UK/EU team and offer extended global support as required.
• Ticket Management: Oversee the entire support ticket lifecycle, ensuring issues are logged, tracked and resolved promptly.
• Mentorship: Train and mentor first-line support staff, fostering a collaborative and skilled team.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement enhancements in support processes.
• Incident Management: Coordinate with third-line support and other departments for timely issue resolution.
• Collaboration: Work with other technical teams to understand their requirements and assist them in utilising infrastructure effectively.
• Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on the latest industry technologies and associated supplier solutions.
• Project Leadership: Lead and contribute to various IT projects, ensuring successful planning, execution and completion.

Skills required:

• Qualifications: A degree in IT or relevant professional qualifications, with ITIL knowledge being advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum of three years in a technical support role, with at least one year in a second line support capacity.
• Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of Microsoft products, Azure, Azure AD, Azure SQL, PowerBI, Zoho Desk, and SharePoint.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
• Email Protocols: Understanding of email SMTP transmission protocols and the ability to resolve email delivery issues.
• Customer Service: Excellent communication skills with a strong customer-centric approach.
• Continuous Learning: A commitment to learning, growing and embracing new challenges.
• Networking Expertise: Strong networking skills, including maintenance, troubleshooting and enhancement of network components and services (DNS, DHCP, Fortigate VPN).
• Cybersecurity Knowledge: Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Remote Support: Proficiency in providing remote support using tools like Zoho Desk or similar.
• Documentation Skills: Ability to create and maintain detailed documentation for processes, procedures and troubleshooting steps.
• Flexibility: Willingness to assist with any tasks reported to the team.

Job description:
We are looking for an LNG Shipping Operator to join our LNG team. The Operator has been necessitated as a result of SSY’s LNG market presence and to improve our service offering to our customers in the post fixture process. The incumbent Operator will be working closely with the broking team, and lead the post fixture process in our deals with Shipowners, LNG producers, national and major oil companies, oil, gas and energy traders and financial institutions. Whilst the role will be based in Singapore, it will be with a worldwide remit to reflect the international coverage of our business.

This is a very exciting time to join our LNG desk, which is expanding rapidly in the face of a growing sector.

Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

• Closely monitoring each transaction, and ensuring timely reminders to our customers on their commercial and operational obligations under the charters (E.g. notices, option declaration, heel declaration, redelivery declaration)
• Coordinating with Shipowners and Charterers on day-to-day basis to ensure their operational needs and demands are met
• Spearhead the fixture reconciliation process with our customers, and coordinating with the finance team for brokerage billing
• Working closely with the broking teams to support specific needs

Skills required:

• Strong attention to detail, organised with reliable time management skills and a methodical approach
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills required to work with a global team
• Ability to work within a deadline-driven environment with a strong work ethic and self-motivation
• Able to prioritise work according to deadlines
• Previous shipping experience and/or gas and LNG markets will be helpful, but not essential. On the job training will be provided.
