SSY appoints digital transformation specialist Richard White as Chief Information Officer

SSY, the world’s largest independent shipbroker, has today announced the appointment of Richard White to the newly created role of Chief Information Officer, effective 2nd June 2025.
With over two decades of senior-level experience, White has built an impressive reputation in the oil and gas, maritime and financial sectors. Specialising in transformational change within the digital and data space, White has held a range of board level positions at Clarksons, Sea/ by Maritech and most recently GT Maritime and Onyx Capital Group.
During his 16 year tenure at Clarksons, White was instrumental in overhauling the company’s digital infrastructure and data services which was fundamental to their ongoing growth. White was also one of the founders of Sea/ by Maritech and drove the digital strategy while working with Owners, Charterers and Brokers to shape the platform and its ultimate success. He has since been working within the M&A and SaaS data solutions space.
Speaking on today’s announcement, Stanko Jekov, SSY Managing Partner comments; “Digitalisation is rewriting how brokers operate on a day to day basis. Clients now require and indeed, expect data in real time wherever they may be in order to effectively manage their business”.
Jekov continues: “In tandem, SSY as a global operation has grown significantly over the past few years and our ambition is to accelerate this growth even further. In order to support this further growth and to not only meet but exceed client expectation, we need the right infrastructure and most importantly, the right person to lead us through this exciting period of transformation and I’m convinced Richard is that person”.
Also speaking on today’s announcement, Richard White comments: “From the very first meeting, I was blown away by both the energy and ‘can do’ attitude of everyone I met at SSY. The firm has a clear vision for the future and ambitious plans for further growth, however, it was their shared commitment to provide their clients with the best possible service that made it a no brainer to be a part of this dynamic team”.
White continues; “My aim is to leverage on all of my past experience in order to provide best-in-class solutions for the brokers and analysts within SSY which will enable the firm to provide an unrivalled offering to its global client base and I can’t wait to get going”.
